VSTAR President & CEO, Virgil Williams, Jr., LMSW, LCSW, is back in his hometown of Union City.


Virgil graduated from Union City High School in 1971 and received his Associate of Liberal Arts degree from Wayne County Community College in Detroit, Mich., in 1989. He later earned his Bachelor of Arts degree and his Master of Social Work degree, both from Wayne State University in Detroit.


He has served as a Court Screener/Mental Health Social Worker for Renaissance West CMH, Inpatient Psychiatric Social Worker for Oakwood Merriman Westland Center, Assertive Community Treatment Supervisor and Therapist and Administrator of Outpatient Services for Aurora Health Care Inc., Administrator of Services for Horizon Health Care Inc., Clinical Director for Team Rehabilitation Services, Vice President for Team Mental Health Services, ACT Program Coordinator for Wayne State University Project Care, Adjunct Instructor for Wayne State University School of Social Work, USDC Program Director for Pioneer Behavioral Health, Substance Abuse Program Director for Pioneer Behavioral Health, Clinical Director for Detroit East Health Services, Contingent Weekend Inpatient Psychiatric Social Worker for Behavioral Centers of Michigan, Manager of Clinical Practice Improvement for Detroit Wayne Mental Health Authority (DWMHA), Executive Director of Comprehensive Behavioral Health for Central City Integrated Health (CCIH), and recently served as Chief Operation Officer for CCIH in Detroit.

Virgil is also a member of the National Association of Social Workers.
